On March 24, 2016, Jim Cowper, president, CPI, along with a team from the Center for Neurological Studies (CNS) testified before the Michigan House of Representatives on creating more effective processes to access our nation’s out processing military personnel and veterans. The CNS team provided testimony on the challenges and solutions associated with the short and long-term effects of head traumas sustained while in active military duty.

Spearheaded by Roz Lullove Cooperman, Jim was there to not only bring awareness to veterans issues, but to also to facilitate  a coalition building effort to ultimately pass legislation, which would allow the military to release service member’s contact information to employers, with the intent of offering employment.

“The challenge is the US military does not have a proven, trackable method to link the out processing soldier with the hiring companies,” said Cowper.

Cowper suggested that the solution is to offer the outbound soldier a privacy act waiver, which will allow the military to release the service member’s name and contact information. This would allow employers to contact the service members with the intent to offer employment opportunities only. The process would streamline the hiring methods, eliminate the unemployment costs and create a targeted relocation process, where the soldier follows the new employment opportunity.

“The public sector has finally determined veterans are valued, highly desirable and an asset to their organizations. The challenge is matching the veteran with the hiring entities,” said Cowper.

Jim’s testimony further solidifies CPI’s position as the leading veteran owned staffing solutions company in Michigan, serving client’s with both national and international staffing requirements.

In March 2016, CPI was given the distinction of Veteran Owned Small Business of the Year from the Michigan Small Business Administration. In addition, CPI garnered several awards as a 101 Best and Brightest Places To Work For 2015, for our commitment to continuing education for all of our veterans and employees. CPI was honored to receive local, elite and national awards from the Best and Brightest Committee in 2015.

Certified by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VOSB) and the National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC) as veteran owned, CPI has a 34 year history of actively recruiting on military bases and hiring in excess of 100+ veterans annually.  CPI interfaces directly with Transition Service Specialists and Managers, the Veteran’s Department of Workforce Commission, Contract Installation Managers, Soldier Readiness Processing Centers and many more, to access out processing veterans. CPI hires veterans for defense and public sector clients and deploys around the world.

The genesis of CPI was born out of a singular desire to assist veterans in their pursuit to create a better life for themselves and their families. As such, CPI’s level of commitment to our military personnel runs deep.

To that end, CPI has enlisted the services of Command Sergeant Major Richard Ross RichRoss1(Retired) U.S. Army, to provide guidance and access to our nation’s out processing military personnel and veterans. The Command Sergeant Major acts as a conduit to the military’s upper echelons, a trusted advisor and as a director of business development. His sole purpose is to advocate for the best interest and welfare of all out processing military personnel, as they pursue gainful employment.

One of ABC’s Person’s of the Week,  Colonel Larry Phelps turned to CPI when he retired from the United States Army after a long and distinguished career; leaving  as the commander of the Army’s 1st Cavalry Rear Detachment.

Colonel Phelps summed up why we at CPI go to work everyday; “As a veteran, it’s sometimes difficult to just get your foot in the door in the very competitive marketplace. I think that’s exactly what CPI can do. They can open doors and connect you to great companies.”
